A Publishing Insider Who Puts Authors First
Books have always been my calling—I learned to read at age three, and it wasn’t long before I started calling myself a publisher and giving out handmade construction paper and crayon “books.” By first grade I was telling people I wanted to grow up to be an editor at Simon & Schuster. I stuck with that passion through school, serving as editor of my high school paper and writing for websites in college while interning at a small press. When I graduated, I landed that dream job at Simon & Schuster—and I’ve been helping authors make great books ever since.
At Simon & Schuster, I learned how the industry decides which books make it to shelves — and what makes them succeed. But I also saw how many talented authors struggled to find their way. What most people see on the surface—write a book, publish a book, sell lots of books—is deceptively straightforward, and with the evolution of digital printing technology and ebooks, authors face more choices and challenges than ever before.
That insight fueled my career as a freelance editor, ghostwriter, book doctor, and publishing strategist. I’ve partnered with most of the Big Five publishers, literary agents, independent presses, and countless independent authors. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of helping many bestselling authors earn reviews, build audiences, and grow businesses.
I founded The Writer’s Ally to bring that insider knowledge directly to authors. With my team, I’ve guided hundreds of writers and influenced thousands more, empowering them to publish smarter and achieve their goals.
Books have the power to ripple outward — changing careers, communities, and lives. For me, it’s a privilege to help bring those books into the world so they can make the impact their authors dream of. It would be my honor to help you do the same.
Some of the highlights of my publishing career include:
- Collaborator credit on the national bestseller The Way of the SEAL
- Book doctoring and editorial guidance for authors represented by top literary agencies and published by most of the Big Five publishers
- Articles published in industry outlets such as Writer’s Digest and The Writer
- Hundreds of successful collaborations with nonfiction authors, novelists, and memoirists
